Consumers are advised that a product recall order has been issued by Health Canada on some of Lennox ductless heat pumps, manufactured in China and distributed in Canada, by Lennox Industries ( Canada ) ULC.

The affected heat pumps can fail and overheat, which may pose a fire hazard.

As of February 11, 2020, the company has received 2 reports in Canada, and with no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received no report of injuries or incidents.

Approximately 377 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and approximately 1,650 were sold in the United States.

The affected products were sold from January 2016 to November 2019.

What to do

Consumers should immediately contact their installing servicer, dealer, or contractor to arrange for a free outdoor replacement. While awaiting replacement, consumers should monitor affected units while they are being operated and keep foliage and other flammable items at least 61 cm (24 inches) away from the recalled units.

Consumers with an affected heat pump unit may call Lennox Industries at 1-800-527-3506 between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday or by clicking on the Recall Notice posting on the landing page of www.lennox.com or by visiting www.lennox.com/about/safety/product-recalls.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
